Four years of war in Ukraine have brought deep suffering, loss and disruption to normal life for many. Yet even in the midst of devastation, the Lord is at work. Through grief and uncertainty, God is using the ministry of faithful local churches to transform lives and communities through the gospel of Jesus Christ. Even now, as the conflict continues, God is raising up disciplemakers to establish the Church where the gospel isn’t known.
Since the beginning of the response, ReachGlobal has come alongside nearly 200 local churches, including five congregations from the Evangelical Free Church of Ukraine. Through strategic grants, churches have been equipped to meet tangible needs in their communities—providing meals through food kitchens, purchasing generators, repairing damaged church facilities and much more.
In keeping with ReachGlobal’s heart to invest in disciplemakers, this response has strengthened faithful Ukrainian pastors and ministry leaders. Through training opportunities and retreats, ReachGlobal has served those who are shepherding congregations and bearing witness to Christ amid hardship.
Through this ongoing response, local churches are opening their doors, offering prayer, holistic care and the steady presence of gospel community. Many Ukrainians who once had little interest in faith are now seeking hope and truth. This is a significant gospel moment—one that invites faithful presence, prayerful dependence and long-term vision.
Our vision is to:
- Care for hurting people for with grace and compassion.
- Support local churches as they multiply disciples and disciplemakers, plant new churches, and transform communities.
- Foster reconciliation and restoration of broken relationships.
How is our response unique?
- Long-term: For more than 30 years, ReachGlobal has been a faithful ministry presence in Ukraine—planting churches, caring for the marginalized and training leaders. Our response is relationship-based and Ukrainian-directed.
“In such an exceptionally challenging season, gatherings like this [training for pastors] and support like yours have strategic significance. They help preserve pastors and ministry leaders, and keep churches spiritually alive so they can continue ministering to people who are living with fear, loss and pain. We are deeply convinced that even in the midst of war, the Lord continues to build His Church.” – Pastor Anatoly Kaluzhny, senior pastor, New Life Church in Kyiv
- Church-focused: We believe the needs of the community are best met and realized through the witness and service of the local church. Our response focuses on empowering and equipping local churches to holistically care for their communities.
Our partners
Our response is dependent on faithful Ukrainian partners who desire to see gospel transformation in their homeland:
- Disciplemakers to revitalize churches with new believers.
- Caregivers to provide listening conversations focused on trauma care.
- Innovators to invest in rebuilding of industry, agriculture, education and infrastructure while strengthening the local church.
