Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida on Thursday, September 26, 2025, as a Category 4 storm. As the storm moved slowly up the Atlantic coast and inland to the southern Appalachians, it left a path of destruction across the southeast United States. ReachGlobal Crisis Response mobilized immediately and is partnering with two churches in Hendersonville, North Carolina, to share the love of Christ in affected communities.
Because of the mountainous terrain, Helene left unique destruction behind in its wake. Landslides, flash flooding and falling trees all created considerable damage to communities. ReachGlobal Crisis Response has been working to meet physical and emotional needs as well as building relationships and addressing underlying spiritual needs.
Pray
- For the wisdom to walk well with Hendersonville Presbyterian and Living Hope Fellowship, our partner churches.
- For God to provide ongoing housing (for both staff and volunteers) and resources for this response.
- For more opportunities to engage and care for new communities in the mission field created by Hurricane Helene.
- For God to continue to guide and develop this response for His glory.
Serve
- Short-Term Teams: ReachGlobal Crisis Response, in partnership with Living Hope Fellowship (EFCA) and Hendersonville Presbyterian Church, is hosting short-term teams in Western North Carolina. Initial teams will serve for one half of a week, with opportunities for full-week teams opening this fall and winter. Email respond@efca.org for more information or to reserve a spot for your team.
- Long-Term Staff: A long-term response to Hurricane Helene requires additional ReachGlobal Crisis Response staff, whether new staff are mobilized to serve in this area or existing staff relocate from other sites and their positions are backfilled. Crisis Response is recruiting full-time staff for all of its current responses. Email crisisresponse@efca.org for more information.
